Psyllium's Impact in Reducing Dietary Fiber–Induced Gas in IBS
A study published recently in the journal Gut reveals that psyllium administered with insulin diminishes colonic gas production in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). This suggests that consuming a diet containing adequate amounts of viscous fiber may enable patients to obtain the prebiotic health benefits of high-fiber diets without exacerbating their IBS symptoms.
