PPIs Not Recommended as Preferred Treatment for H Pylori

New practice guidelines from the American College of Gastroenterology and published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology are clear: In nearly all circumstances, proton pump inhibitor (PPI) triple therapy should not be used to treat Helicobacter pylori. RSV Vaccine Effective in Preventing Hospitalization in Older Adults

While prelicensure randomized trials demonstrated that the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccination for adults aged 60 years and older had high efficacy against the lower respiratory tract disease, they did not have clear results related to hospitalization. Beta-Blocker Discontinuation After Myocardial Infarction Shows No Benefit

When French researchers set out to determine the safety and efficacy of ending long-term beta-blocker usage after myocardial infarction, they expected reduced side effects and improved quality of life. To their surprise, that is not what occurred. The noninferiority of the interruption strategy was not shown with respect to the risk of death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke, or hospitalization for cardiovascular reasons.
